Blog 10: English Language Challenges

 Hello everyone! Today I am very excited because it is the last blog of this English class and precisely this blog is about this great language.

Honestly, I never really liked English, I think that's because at school I had bad English teachers, therefore my ground knowledge has always been poor, but when I started university I was able to see english in a different way thanks to some teachers who found their way of inspiring me, I feel that within these years I've learned way more than what I expected, perhaps not what I should know at this point, but I have improve a lot.  Maybe making a more dynamic class and looking for other alternatives to get closer to the students helped my motivation to learn this language.

Within all that I have learned in these years the most dificult part to me has been chatting with someone who speakes english because the truth is that I do not have the chance of doing it that much. In general English in my life went unnoticed until i met my friends at the university whom started to say some short sentences and words in English as a game and it was very entertaining. 

I still hope that in the future i will have the chance to put myself to the test. I think that if I am more radical and I go to another country I would have to do it yes or yes haha

more or less that is my plan to reinforce and increase my practice in this language, make decisions that put me to the test

Blog 9: Changes to My Study Program

 Hello everyone again! Today I will talk about the changes that I would like to apply to my study program or department.

I believe that the dance career at the University of Chile has many shortcomings, both in administrative and structural matters.

Before I entered the university, their schedules were not so extensive, today our classes are practically from 8:00 to 20:00 with a huge overload, this implies that a lot of students cannot finish their career because of lack of time, some people have to work too and due to time matters, it is not possible to do both things. I think that it is essential to reduce this academic load to find the exact point where we can expand not only within the university.

Another essential point that should be addressed is that dance teachers must have studies on pedagogy because most of them only study interpretation and are not prepared to deliver this knowledge to another person.

Finally, I will refer to the university’s infrastructure, ‘cause I feel that it is one of the most neglected departments within the arts. Year after year we as students talk about this with the people in charge is important that they fix this situation because at this point the building might end up falling within a second, which would not surprise me at all; once an elevator fell and then the same happened to the ceiling of a room. Many times the dean has considered fixing this problem and he promises a lot of things, specifically to the dance department, but those things haven't become true

I sincerely hope that soon they will take care of these shortcomings since it is inhumane to have to study to be a professional under these circumstances.

Blog 8: Personal Opinions

Hello everyone! Today I’m going a  about a very important issue for me and that is radically marking our society today, this is technology and social networks. 

Technology has brought a lot of benefits to humanity, sonce its function is to create an improvement of tools and accessories to simplify and save effort and time to the human being But this does not mean that technology is not doing harm to humanity. 

Technology is honestly no longer important, it is necessary. The world became dependent on it, but worse than that, addicted.

Everything that surrounds us is technology, a radio, a calculator, airplanes, computers, etc.

Technology, with its pros and cons, it has developed a wonderful way and has allowed to prolong life but at the same time it has also caused an increase in suicides, eating disorders, visual violence, harassment and labor exploitation.

I believe that as humanity we are constantly being bombarded with technology and in the end it ends up being proof that you are so drawn into it. For example, I bought a computer, activated social networks and advertised my work through them, I look for information related to the body and I am not guided by the new diet that came out to look like the woman in the image.

So in the end it is a constant game of decisions, technology gives good and bad things, the decision of what to make is yours.

Blog 7: An Interesting Hobby/ free-time activity you have

 

Hello everyone! Today I’m going to talk about my hobby. I think that months ago I would have said that dancing was my hobby, but last year i had to move to a country house and because of that I began to feel a connection with nature.

During 2020 my grandmother and I started to work on the land to create a garden, we planted flowers and trees. It was in that moment when I realized that I have a connection with the Earth, after a few weeks working on our garden and being in touch with nature, it became my favorite activity.

Working in the land has helped me create and investigate new languages ​​within dance. I feel that perhaps the earth is a great uterus that gives birth to its fruits and that is why I can connect so deeply, also within the Mapuche community there is a ritual where the mother after giving birth takes her placenta and buries it in the earth implying that if there is another great mother in nature.

I really hope to continue experiencing endless beautiful sensations and reflecting with this activity because it has helped me a lot in this pandemic.

 

 

To finish I would like to tell you that later I plan to take some lessons to be able to know more about this subject and who knows, maybe I can even teach later to people who are interested on this area.

Blog 6: Post Graduate Studies

Hello everyone! Today I’m going to talk about what I would like to continue studying after I finish my career. This is a topic that interests me a lot since it is one of my goals in life.


In the previous blog I had mentioned that I would like to work on something related to teaching dance to children, for this reason, I think I would continue strengthening myself in the pedagogy area since I believe it is a really important tool that will help me to transmit my knowledge

 

To accomplish this goal I would like to travel to another country and take a degree program specifically directed to pedagogy in dance. I would not like to do it in Chile because in my experience the pedagogy in this career does not have much relevance and I’ve had to see professors who have no idea of how to teach properly or how to treat students.

I really hope that with these studies I can further complete my career and be a contribution to society. Also, I’d like to create awareness in the world of the dance of how the dancers are being trained because usually the focus is only on the interpretive part and they leave aside this great base that is pedagogy.

Blog 5: My Future Job

Hello everyone! Today I'm excited because I am going to talk about my future job, to begin I must tell you that right now I am studying dance and it is a profession that makes me immensely happy.


At the beginning of my studies, I always wanted to direct myself towards pedadogy and at that time I was focused on being a folklore teacher here in Santiago, but then I began to explore the world of dance and how it can relate with children and I knew that I wanted to teach children to create more integral people and that they have the right tools to develop in the future, creating awareness about their bodies and conect their feelings and thoughts.

 

I think it is my great goal for the future in professional matters and I intend to involve it in schools and gardens for a time in Santiago and then to be able to travel and acquire more knowledge about how dance helps children. here I leave a link on a children's dance text

Blog 4: Favorite movies / Anime

 Hello again! I hope you're having a great day. Today I am going to talk about my favorite anime.
I think it's easier to choose than a movie, since I don't know a lot about anime... but the ones I've seen are fantastic.

My favorite anime is "Hunter X". This started as a manga to later be broadcast as an anime. There are two versions, I prefer the newer. "Hunter X" was written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi.

 

 

 The story is about Gon Freecss, a twelve year old boy who is looking for his father. Gon decides to become a hunter like his father and find some clues about him. As the story goes on, Gon makes three friends: Leorio, Kurapika and Killua. The four aspiring hunters have incredible adventures.

 

 "Hunter X" has six seasons, they are all very fun and exciting, but I would like to highlight season five: Chimera Ant since is a much darker series and it is constantly questioned what good humanity does in this world. Plus, the best fights appear!
